Var was born and raised on Mann. She became interested in healing charms at an early age, and her family's position allowed her to pusue such studies until she married. It was a short marriage: her husband's ship set off one spring and did not return. When a ship from the Wirral overwintered as guests of her father, she and Hrolf formed an attachment; negotiations were held, and a deal struck. She moved to the mainland with him the next summer, and has borne three children: Elle, Kendrick and Rowan. A superb cook and organiser of the homestead, she is also a leading exponent of the formidable Battle-Ladle of The North!In the real world, Elvara Hrolfswiffe is married to Hrolf Douglasson, and they have three children: Eleanor, Kendrick and Rowanne. A former nurse at the local hospital, she currently spends her time as home-maker and family secretary.
